“It was a tough time.” Peter Radoll didn’t really think about being Koori, although he was part of the community, until he reached high school. He had been aware of being “different” and that a some of his family claimed to be Maori rather than Aboriginal, but it was in high school, receiving his first Aboriginal study grant, that he came in contact with hostility, including from teachers, which changed how he thought of himself.
